Are you a business or community organization leader? Become an AkronReads Business Partner. By entering into an AkronReads partnership, you will join the ranks of several influential businesses and community groups that give back to the community by supporting the literacy of children in our area. For more than a decade, AkronReads has made a measurable impact in our community with one-on-one tutoring sessions for students. Participating business leaders agree that AkronReads is both a smart business decision and a worthwhile service opportunity.

"This program is remarkable because both the tutor and the student benefit from their time spent together," said Tom Strauss, president and CEO of Summa Health System. "It’s tremendously gratifying for all Summa volunteers to help the children achieve new reading skills. Reading is a fundamental part of achieving academic success and it’s a wonderful feeling to realize that as an AkronReads volunteer, you are helping propel a child toward a successful future by simply increasing their reading skills. We are grateful to Seiberling Elementary School, Principal Kathy Maddex, and the entire staff and student body for allowing us to volunteer in their school." – Tom Strauss, President and CEO, Summa Health System "We are very happy to help with Akron Reads. It is important for us as members of the community to be involved with the educational lives of our local families." – Dr. Dudley Turner, Interim Dean of the College of Creative and Professional Arts, The University of Akron
"An AkronReads partnership is an invaluable and rewarding experience for students and employees alike.

Over the years I have watched our staff and the children they tutor grow and develop and form meaningful relationships that have benefited readers and the children. I know our employees appreciate the fact that they can take paid time to give back something to the community. We need to keep this program sustainable and effective because our children clearly need it." – Bob Kulinski, President, United Way of Summit County

"Our associates gain tremendous personal satisfaction from participating in the tutoring opportunities.  Goodyear congratulates the Akron Public Schools for such a strong AkronReads program, and we are committed to continuing our support into the future."  – Rich Kramer, Chairman & CEO, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
"Students, teachers and administrators are immensely grateful for the sacrifice of time and effort from our Business Partners. Your organization’s participation will make a lasting impact that won’t soon be forgotten.

[AkronReads] has given our students a new appreciation for reading, higher test scores and new friendships. I’d like to thank the volunteers and business partners of AkronReads for generously sharing their time and resources with our children." – David James, Superintendent, Akron Public Schools
